Sparrowhawk alert!

Mick Farmer from Bewdley saw this male Sparrowhawk in his garden on 17th April 2020. Mick was very pleased to see it at such close quarters, but the small birds in his garden were not so enthusiastic!

According to RSPB studies, 120 different species of birds have been recorded as falling prey to Sparrowhawks. The male Sparrowhawk can catch birds up to thrush size but the larger female can catch birds up to pigeon size. Some Sparrowhawks have also been known to catch bats.
